and I bought blackberries again because everyone said this is the time to eat them. Thing is they’re sitting in my fridge and I’m afraid to try them. I remember how awful they were the last time.
When I was at the store I saw golden raspberries. Never heard of them. I picked them up and was looking at them in amazement like a little kid examining something new. Then a really bad thought came to mind. Their color reminded me of maggots. They quickly went back on the shelf.

I DO NOT like brown rice. I’ve tried it several times. I’ve mixed it up with other foods. I just don’t like it. So even though white rice isn’t as healthy I’m going back to it. Things is I love rice so I guess I’ll just have to watch portion sizes. I could live on rice and potatoes for the rest of my life. And, of course, something sweet for my wicked sweet tooth.

some wonderful advice from quite a few people about the blackberries since this was my first time eating them. So now, let’s talk about blueberries. I live in Michigan and during the summer it seems like everyone is talking blueberries. The first time I had blueberries was a few years ago during the summer when it seemed like everyone and their dog was carrying boxes and boxes of blueberries. I had some them but I don’t remember them being sweet. Now I’m back to buying blueberries and I never, never, never seem to get a good bunch. Their either sour or no flavor. What should I do or when should I wait till to have some luck with this and actually get a bunch that’s sweet. Please excuse my stupidity. As long as I’ve lived here in Sticksville I should probably know this but that city girl has never left me since I moved here. Thanks again for all the advice. You guys are great!!!!!!!!!!

with popcorn? Is it a healthy snack or not? It seems there are conflicting reports out there? I love popcorn but I can go without it, too. It’s not an obsession. I was just wondering. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks in advance.

For the first time in my life my fridge is actually stocked with fruits and vegetables. And I do mean STOCKED. It’s kind of funny to me. I feel like I’m in someone else’s house. I bought:
strawberries
blackberries
blueberries
mangoes
kiwi
bananas
oranges
pears
papaya
grapes
apples
melons
lettuce
spinach
parsley
broccoli
cauliflower
zucchini
brussels sprouts
cherry tomatoes
frozen corn
cabbage
salmon
sardine
olives
cashews
brown rice
lentils
chickpeas
and other miscellaneous stuff
I still can’t believe myself. Did I actually stock my kitchen with healthy food? I usually buy a bunch of junk. I think I did pretty good. Some of this stuff I’ve never had. For example, I’ve never eaten blackberries, raspberries, guava, papaya. I had kiwi once but it was so long ago I have a vague recollection of what it tastes like. I’ve also never had brussels sprouts. Oops, forgot to get the green beans. Damn. If anyone has any suggestions for other healthy foods please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Tomorrow.....
I go grocery shopping. I’m going to make a point of eating before I go so that I’m not tempted to buy things that have no place on my grocery list.

Eat,Drink, and Weigh Less. It bought by accident when I was looking for cookbooks. Anyway, I read it and it’s pretty good. It basically talks about eating fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, good fats. Some things I already knew but I also learned a few things, too. For example, I did not know that canola oil is good to use. I had already been buying it so I was glad of that. It also has a 21 day diet in it and recipes. I’m basically doing my own thing but it was still a good read. I also had moment when the lightbulb finally comes on and you say…what do you say….okay I just lost my train of thought but anyway, what I was realized was this….instead of using spoonfuls of butter I’ve been using the Crisco butter flavor non-sitck spray for my eggs and I can still get that yummy butter flavor I love. Also, I thought I would share something my doctor told me a couple months ago. Bear in mind she told me this because I struggle with insomnia (for the past 18 years). Carbohydrates stimulate the mind so it’s best to eat protein when it’s closer to bedtime. Okay, I’m done rambling.
