plant a garden

I’ve been darting outside during my newborn’s naps to dig up old bushes and remove the rusted old wire fence from the last owner’s neglected garden. I’m getting pretty close to having all the fencing out of the way, I just have to wiggle out some of the stakes.

It sucks having to dig up flower bulbs around the whole yard, but it’s necessary for me to be able to plant what I’m planning to this year. Plus I need to clear out the bulbs next to the house in order to grade the land away from the foundation (we’re taking on too much water).

I just wish I could spend more time outside while it’s so sunny and beautiful. But I’m a mom first and a gardening feind second or third. :)

My lavender seedlings are popping up in their tray in the window. I’m so excited to see them poking their bright green shoots out of the earth! Spring seems closer the more they, and my houseplants are flourishing. The brighter sunlight is pumping them up like steriods.

I procured some lavender seeds at a funeral (a lovely idea, I wouldn’t mind for my own funeral some day) and started them in the brightest window of the house. Now if only spring would come so I could get outside and dig up the old garden.
