I tried, but much to the surprise of my professors (and my surprise, I have to admit), I was not accepted to any of my choices. I have an alternative in mind which will improve my current situation drastically, but I don’t want to consider never going. It’s just on the back burner for now while I do what I can to improve my life without it.

So far I’ve secured recommendations from my professors, signed up with all the applications, and taken the GREs. Next I have to network among future professors as much as possible, fill out the applications, and request my transcripts. And, of course, send everything, including my writing samples! Ugh.
