Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

May 2010

My last entry was in January and I STILL haven’t been able to clear out the garage… bother! Today I did some more clearing and organizing. I have done all I can in terms of organizing things into:

*Things to chuck away
*Things to chuck but can’t cos they’re too big so things to sell

It sucks because the double-garage of stuff all belong to my parents and the last thing you want to be doing is sorting through someone else’s junk pile. But I will get there… and when I do it means I don’t have to pay for rent so it’s going to be worth it!

Tomorrow I’m gonna actually take photos to put up on auction sites now that I know what needs to be rid of.

My temporary studio

..is going to be my parent’s garage :D

I’ve been cleaning it out since the end of last year.. I believe I am half way there although there are heaps more to clear!

So I want to..

  • Sell things that we no longer use or need on online auction site
  • Put some nice pieces of furniture in there so it is nice and comfortable to work in
  • Organise dad’s tools etc into a logical order
  • Clean the exterior of the garage so it looks dazzling

Great lighting and wooden floors.

I want my studio to have great lighting.. and wooden floors. With brick walls. It would be cool to rent out the whole building with a group of like-minded, responsible and motivated artists so we can work in an uplifting environment! All in my hometown =) Woop! I secretly look forward to doing up an old building so it has a functional yet welcome feel to the place.
