I have discovered a truly disturbing fact. When I try to get rid of things, the neat piles of boxes become piles of things that used to be in boxes and there’s always an excuse for why I can’t rid of Thing A or Other Thing B. Eventually, I end up getting rid of ONE thing in a box of 30! Do I really want to keep this much stuff??? Deep breath, pick a box; get rid of half of it. Can I do it? I’m about to find out. It’s 3:15 AM and I’m not going to bed until I get through a box! Grrrrr!

I have added two boxes of books to my room, but they are for me price, give away and get rid of, come hell or high water. So, once I finish my NANOWRIMO writing tonight, I will probably begin pricing/sorting them. I already have one box of books in the trunk of my car for Goodwill. It’s a step in the right direction, but I have a lot of steps to go.
I can’t get past STEP ONE!!!
I have been getting rid of a lot of stuff, but I have SO MUCH CRAP! I am not one to just start putting all the clutter out at the curb, but I’m getting desperate. Rather than just boxing up things and putting them in storage, I have been actually getting rid of things – 10 things per week for nearly 2 years. It’s helped, but it’s only about 5% of the mass. And it’s like a black hole, accumulating more crap that happens to get too close to escape. I have to be more aggressive about this whole process. Then maybe I can read on to STEP TWO!
