It used to be an all-consuming passion of mine, and the more I saw of movies, the more I demanded of them. There are art house cinemas throughout Sydney, Australia. I started with the well known classics and evolved towards the obscure European films. I still deeply appreciate modern American films that tell a great story, but I also adore the moody and evocative films that emanate from our philosphical filmmakers. I pursued a career in filmmaking and had a strong talent for acting. I studied at the Academy of Performing Arts where Hugh Jackman studied and I appeared in a TV series with Heath Ledger.
These days I spend my time being a resposible parent providing for my progeny, however it is my sole intention to return to filmmaking to write and direct the great Australian motion picture of the 21st century. I will not give up. I will not let it pass away into memory. I am reminded of the villanelle by Dylan Thomas, “Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.”
These days I get most of my viewing from old, rare and obscure DVDs that, luckily, are becoming more and more readily available. As time goes on the smaller distribution companies are releasing their movies from the vaults and archives of yesteryear, which is a great boon for cinephiles and film buffs alike. [Who knows, we may even be blessed with the unearthing of ‘Four Devils’ by F. W. Murnau, a film considered the most mourned of the lost films of the silent era].
