#3) Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World - Haruki Murakami 3 years ago

Wonderfully weird and strange and surreal. The concept of the intertwining plots was fascinating, although I loved the surreal wall-inclosed town just a little more than the cyberpunk fantasy. I haven’t read anything by Haruki Murakami for two years – I guess I forgot how much I loved his books.

2) Talk to the Hand - Lynne Truss 3 years ago

Ah, yes, all of the reasons why modern society is annoyingly rude! Her writing is laugh-out-loud funny, and most of the things she talked about I agreed with, especially when it involved pesky cellphone users and people who simply cannot take responsibility for their actions. Some of the things she complained about, though, seemed minor. Maybe I’ve gotten used to the things she considers rude. Maybe it’s because I’m too young to know better. Maybe it’s because I’m Canadian, not British. Whatever, I still enjoyed this.

As a side note, for some strange reason, I read this first although Eats, Shoots and Leaves has been on my “must read list” for a very long time. Will read sometime this year.

book #1 3 years ago

The Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac
I love Jack Kerouac’s writing. It’s addictive – so full of life and energy. This book has lots of soul searching and great descriptions of natural beauty and Buddhism and it makes me want to go hiking and meditate. Love, love, love it. I need to read more by him.
