Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Really trying!

Okay so I had OSU reactivate my account so that I can register for classes (I was considered a drop out in the system). I got special permission from the Spanish 111 teacher to take her class instead of taking 103 and 104 separate. If I can just come up with the money to take that class, that will be 10 credit hours… but it’s really stupid because 12 credits and up costs the same as 12. So I might as well take one more and come up with a little more money. Anyway, I’m desperately trying to come up with money right now.

I also think I want to change my major. This is going to sound crazy… I want to be a Spanish teacher. Terry said something like that off the cuff the other day and I can’t stop thinking about it. I’ve always been pretty good at Spanish. I got an A in 101 and 102 and I really enjoyed it in high school. I know the people at OSU are going to say that my GPA sucks and I probably won’t get into the masters program to become a teacher… BUT… I still need like 75 credits to graduate and I think that is plenty to raise my GPA and prove I can do it.

I really want to be a buckeye! Better yet… I’ve always been a buckeye. I want to be an ALUMNI BUCKEYE!!!!

I have decided to branch out from OSU because I think it is going to take me way too long to graduate from there. I have a meeting set with with an advisor there next Thursday during lunch, but I have also set up a meeting with an advisor at Ohio Dominican University that evening because I want to see how quickly I can graduate with their LEAD program. The LEAD program is meant for people with full time jobs who want to finish their undergrad. Hopefully they will have the answers I need to hear… and the price tag I can reach as well!

Spring Quarter

I signed up for an online class at Columbus State to take for Spring Quarter. All I have to do is come up with $398.00 for the tuition and I’ll be “back in school”! Hopefully it will stick.

Someone told me to look into Ohio Dominican because they focus on night classes to get people finished with their undergrad. I’m definitely going to look into this because I may never get my degree if I keep working like I am.
