Develop a One Year and a Five Year plan

I’ve completed my one year plan. Right now, I’m living in Palm Springs, Calif. and working for a much larger newspaper.

Now, to do the five year plan…I’m also including getting a dog and buying a house/condo

Aldrich in 2009
1. Be working for a newspaper in a larger city that I can live in for at least four years.

Aldrich in 2013
1. Saved enough money to buy a house.
2. Met my partner and had a commitment ceremony/power of attorney signage (a guy can dream you know)
3. Work at a newspaper that I love and start doing mentorship with AAJA Voices (youth journalism project)

So, how often do people develop this plan. Is this ever a completed goal?
