I completed a work/study program at the Institute of Culinary Education in NYC. It took a little over a year to complete the 1600 hours of required work but I learned a lot along the way and now I don’t have to write a check to the school for $24,000. It feels really great and classes have been amazing so far. Yesterday we had our first day of real cooking (up until now it’s been mostly knife skills and tastings) and my team did a fantastic job!

After years of thinking about it, I finally got off my @$$ and started the work/study program at the Institute of Culinary Education in NYC. This work/study program allows me to work for my tuition ($24,000). I’ve already completed 300 hours of work…1300 to go before I get to start the culinary program. It’s a long process because I already have a 9-5 but I should be done in about a year.
