Okay. I made both coils. I soldered them to the circuitboard and I started to mount them to the base. Then—snap the A2 lead on coil L1 snapped. At the very least, I have to make a new coil. Depending on how well I debrade the board, I may have to make another board.
Shit in vinegar.

Okay, people, you nagged me into it.
First, Paola said she wanted to see if I had finished my Theremin.
The, RouenPucelle, Junior Scientist, invited me to play with the Marmot, but I couldn’t because I hadn’t built my Theremin.
Then the Marmot cheered my Theremin.
Then I got nagged at home.
So, I just spent a fiddly hour redoing tedious work. (This is also holding me back on “finish editing this book.”) I just finished the second coil. Again. My eyes are tired and my hands hurt, but I’m much closer to done.

The second coil came apart in my hands.

I don’t give up so easy. I just made the second coil. Ugh. It gave me a bad headache, too. But the coils are done, and those are the roughest parts. I’d like to thank SallyKitt for cheering my lazy-buttocks. It shamed me into activity.

I don’t think I’m flying this weekend, so maybe I will have time.

I made the first coil (pain in the buttocks, sir).
I started the second.
Still have to mount them and tune it.

Next step is to build the coils.
Currently, HomeDepot is holding me up, because they are always out of parts.

C7 — Done.
C10 — Okay, I passed on the Dremel, but just busted out the drill. Not the same. But we made it through.
C12 — 1000 uf. Big.
Pot 1, 2 – different Radio Shack. Il lance; il compte!
D1, D2 — If you love me, buy me a Dremel. I spent half an hour scraping these out with those tiny little screwdrivers. Saved myself over $200.
D4 — Checked. I know my shizzle.
Q1, Q2 — Bought and installed. I wish I had gone old sk00l and bypassed transistors. Yeah. And I want to live in a world of radio tubes.
U4, U2 — I still need to confirm the installation. I’m not sure about how to do this. Grr…
Now, I am buying parts for the coils. Other than that? I should be good.

I soldered down what I have done.
I haven’t retested everything, but I think I may just rock on the soldering iron.
