become active in Scottish Rite

I have, and I will again. Perhaps a travelling man is welcome in Paris. I’m sure I’ll behave better than the Master of the Nine Sisters.

Now that I’m getting to know more of “the brass,” it’s hard to avoid Scottish Rite. My Associate Grand Lecturer is at all the Scottish Rite meetings, so I’ll know people when I show up.

This is definitely looking like a “post-master of the lodge” kind of goal. They run you ragged as Master.

It’s too easy to join Scottish Rite. Within a few short hours of being made a mason, an application was pressed in my hand for Scottish Rite. I didn’t feel like I could refuse the invitation, and was hustled through a one-day class. Actually, it spanned a weekend. At any rate, I’ve never been back, and this is sad because I would like to have a part in the presentations. I think this is a problem with modern masonry—when they worry about membership numbers they tend to cheapen the experience. In all honesty, this goal will probably have to wait until after I finish my stint as Master. I am uncertain where I will live in the next few years, but as a Past Master, I will probably affiliate with appendant bodies rather than re-enter Blue Lodge.
