29 down, 21 to go. It could be a good year for state-visiting: I’m almost certainly adding a new one in June, and possibly another in August.

I totally jinxed myself when the last two trips I wrote about didn’t materialize. So I’ll be coy and just say that I have a meeting in Feb., for which I’ve already purchased tickets, that will add another state to the list.
In 2006, Ohio was the only state I got to check off the list; I had a meeting in New Orleans all lined up, but had to back out at the last minute because of a paper deadline.
My travel calendar for 2007 is already disturbingly full, with one trip to a new state: a summer vacation in Alaska with old friends!
Just got back from my first trip to Ohio, and now I get an email confirming that I will be going to New Orleans in November, which will be my first time in Louisiana! Woo hoo!
Conference coming up in Columbus. My only experience with Ohio so far has been one of its airports (Cincinnati? Columbus? dunno), so this will be another one to check off.
here
to track this goal.
I do some volunteer work for the professional organization in my field, and I just got sucked in deeper. I just got named Committee A’s representative to Committee B, and then Committee B named me their representative to Committee C. Plus one of the guys on Committee B thinks I’d be perfect to replace him on Committee D…
The upshot of all this is that each committee has 2 or 3 meetings a year, each in a different city. Looks like I’ll get to visit Louisiana for the first time later this year; maybe I’ll be able to knock out some more states on the professional organization’s dime before this is over :)
