I have a long-ass commute and Spanish podcasts, nuff said. So that I don’t get all perfectionistic about this goal, I’m going to check it off and put it on repeat.

audiobooks? 16 months ago

I’m about to have a long-ass commute by car, and I would love to use the time to improve my Spanish. Does anyone have recommendations for intermediate-level Spanish? A friend gave me a beginning-level Pimsleur CD, which is basic and suuuuper slow-paced but still better than nothing.

[UPDATE] I should add: Mexican Spanish is really what I want to hear/learn.

I got to exercise my broken Spanish for a week in Guatemala, which was great fun. I’m going to try to tape some of those instructional PBS-type shows.

reading the news 4 years ago

Well, I’m making some progress on this goal by reading El Universal, a Mexico City newspaper, online. Sometimes I read it bit by bit, copying down each phrase from memory to see what accents I drop, words I leave out or misspell, etc.
It’s helping, but I need to make a plan for breaking out my textbook and reviewing the fundamentals, as well as drilling on vocabulary. Luckily, I have a lot of opportunities to speak and listen to it where I live, so I’m not as worried about that right now.
