Build a blog for Big Daddy Kane

that makes me sad: bigdaddykane.org is down since a week or so and its not under my control. i made a backup a while ago so it could be recovered but it makes me sad to see it disappear anyway. and just in time hashim is letting us know that he’s no longer down with the project. i can perfectly understand that, its a lot of work, no money involved, etc…
but i still want to finish this damn thing. i did my part. i’m trying to connect the person who donated the hosting. i hope i’ll be able to make another database dump and then, i’m going to find another reliable hosting for it…... we’ll see how this evolves…

I’ve set up a so called “Spurl Stream”. It’s located here:

You can add links to that stream by registering with Spurl (a social bookmarking software). Everytime you want a link to show up there, choose “Big Daddy Kane” as category.

You can also subscribe to the RSS feed of the stream.

Folks, I know we’re all busy and things but we should seriously launch this website.
I mean the shell is ready, we just need to fill the content in.
It couldn’t be easier to build a website. Everything is ready and i got almost ZERO feeback on my work.
Come on guys, it’s a few hours of work and we can announce the blog and link it back and forth and we’ll gain some attention.
As i said in my other posts, contact me and I’m going to create an account for the content management system.

For the content:
We got five sections so far: Main, About, Biography, Discography and Pictures.
I need the following:
1) Brief description (teaser) of each section
2) Main copy, in particular: About the project, Biography, Discography. Off course we need original, well written content, and NOT copy&paste style…

A possible fifth section is “Pictures” which will be “offline” as long as we’re getting some good footage from photographers like D-Nice or George Dubose.

here are a few things that came to my mind…

- quotes from big daddy kane lyrics (for some sort of random rapquote generator)

- oldschool photography

- a photo of a stack of kane records would be cool

- a complete discography, maybe with covers

- bio (maybe from steven samuel…)

- audio/video footage?

at the moment i’m trying to contact the famous hiphop photographer mikael vaeisaenen (he is from finland, i guess). i have no direct connect to him unfortunately so i tried to contact him via a hiphop mag where his work is often published. if i’m able to get in contact with him i’m going to ask him for permission to use some of his work. he has worked with bdk, in fact he has photographed almost everyone in the hiphop biz. i’ll let you know if there are any news on that…

do you know of any other photographers we could contact for this purpose?

seriously, as already stated in the other threads, we need our site to be different from all other sites related to that topic. to reach that goal it would be the best to have someone who can get in contact with big daddy kane, maybe get some exclusive pictures, exclusive stories etc. we can’t just pull off content from other websites.
would be very cool to just tell him what we’re trying to do here…
what about steven samuel, who made the comment over at hiphop.blogs.com ? am i right that he has a connection to kane? let’s get this man aboard!

i think we should start this project by registering a domain name.

and how are we going to do the financial part of things, hosting etc? maybe we need some sort of paypal fund?

then we need to figure out who will do what. editors, designers, etc.

does someone has a connect to kane? maybe we should let him know what we’re doing…
