choreograph an album-length contemporary piece.

I’m daunted by how many factors need to been considered for this undertaking.
The most difficult is figuring out the size of the group I want to work with and the level of training they need to have in what areas. Being a primarily classically trained in both modern and ballet I think the students will need a strong ballet background with some contemporary, even though the piece will be modern.
I also need to decide on the album, which would help me flesh out the concept considerably so I can go about presenting the idea to various dance organizations. I have some solid ideas concerning this, including Radiohead’s “Hail to the Thief” and MMW’s “End of the World Party.” Both are albums I know by heart and present lots of dynamics to tell a story through movement to.
Most important, however, is TO GET BACK INTO CLASS! Having a little one certainly will make this challenging (seeing as I cannot afford child care) but it is too important to my identity not to figure out. I suppose this goal should go on the back burner until I have the opportunity to stand at a barre and feel like myself again first.
