kitchen is put away!

J has done a fantastic job of putting away everything in the kitchen. It’s inspiring both of us to keep it that way!

Shabby sink

My in-laws came to visit and messed up my beautiful sink. Why are there dishes-in-the-sink people and dishes-beside-the-sink people? I prefer leaving mine next to the sink, I think because they’re drier that way – haha! When you stack them in the sink, you get puddles of mucky food on ALL the dishes, and when you go to pick them up, it drips cold on your hands and fingers. Then, left behind are damp crumbs and a layer of film in the sink that’s just gross and I ignore it for two more days…

I don’t blame them for messing it up. I’m sure the opposite philosophy is that food can get dried on when left outside of the sink, pests might be more attracted, and dishes could be more easily knocked off and break.

FlyLady says that dishes should be immediately moved to the dishwasher (or pan), and I’m already doing this regularly. Ah well. When guests come next, I’ll just have to be better about corralling the dishes as soon as it makes sense to. Without, of course, making a big deal. ;)

ok, signed up for Flylady

Let’s make some changes!

I kinda like my lazy mornings

Where I can read, search, and play to my heart’s content, while staying warm under the covers in a supine position… I eventually get up and get productive, but on my time and my terms….

I’m positive it is sloth-like and perhaps unhealthy to do it like this, but it just feels so good. Maybe if I only allow this kind of behavior one day a week, like hmmmm a sabbath.

hmmmm

Not quite into any of these being a full habit yet… Need to work on better execution in the morning and at night, BUT I’m getting better!

Bon Ami

I bought Bon Ami so I could really make my sink shine. Nothing else was really working. It was so neat to watch the water rinse clean and reveal the sparkling metal underneath.

With more practice, I can visualize how shining your sink compels you to make the surrounding areas a bit shinier too.

AND, I’m finding shining your sink is akin to shining your teeth. Now that I’m flossing more, having my mouth be so clean makes me want to take care of the rest of me better.

Caring, at all, is really the first step to reclaiming your right life. I didn’t realize I had stopped.
