write more letters by hand

I am still no further in writing my thank you notes, though I actually plan to write a few tonight.

Instead, what I have started is a letter exchange with my best friend. She has started dating someone and found it easier to tell me about him through writing letters rather than just call me on the phone. We have been writing faithfully for over a month, and I really love it!

It’s exciting to spend some time writing out whatever is on the top of my head, while also responding to points she made in her letter, then seal it up in an envelope, stick a stamp on it, and send it on its way.

Then, even more exciting is opening the mailbox and finding her letter amongst the bills, junkmail, and useless catalogs.

Yes, I resolve to write my thank you notes with respect to all the joy writing my friend brings me!

I have yet to write all our thank you notes from the wedding. Ack! How did I let myself get so far behind????

I resolve to write five by the end of tonight.

Hold me accountable. :)

...to truly finishing the aforementioned list of 5 things….

What I have accomplished instead is:
1) Write Grandpa a thank you note for the birthday check.
2) Write my sister a thank you note for visiting and helping with wedding stuff.
3) Write a note to my cousins, asking them if their 4-year old daughter would like to be our flower girl.
4) Send a CD of software that my fiance put together to my future sister-in-law.
5) Send a check to my massage therapist who squeezed me into her schedule the day my checkbook ran out….bless her.

Now, if I can just package up those other boxes, I think I’m golden!

Even when it comes to email, I’m pretty bad.

But I love to receive mail, of both kinds, but especially letters and cards. And I really want to make an effort to be better about contacting my friends.

Goal #1: Send E&T an anniversary card.

Goal #2: Send S&F their wedding present!

Goal #3: Send S her books I’ve been holding onto, finally. It’s not like they’re not all packed neatly in their boxes…I just need stinkin’ packing tape!

Goal #4: Send N & K the nice box I put together of things a four-year old would love. Same packing tape problem…

Goal #5: Buy packing tape already!!!
