Since the New Year is coming quickly, I would like to start getting back on track with being healthy and exercising. I know making ridiculous demands and goals for myself will just backfire and make me disappointed, so I would like to start out small. Starting with some sit-ups, push-ups, and squats everyday could be a good first step.
New mini-goal: 10 sit-ups, push-ups, and squats a day. That can’t be that hard, right?

This past week Phil [boyfriend] and I have done quite well exercising. We’ve been using our apartment buildings fitness room, along with bike rides and hiking in Glacier Park. Our trip to Peru in August has been a large motivator for me to get fit and healthy; I need to be able to hike distances in the high altitude without feeling like I’m going to die. I’m getting there though, and it feels really good to be working out.

Phil [boyfriend] and I have started exercising much more regularly now that we’ve finished moving into our new place. On Monday we used the fitness center in our building for over an hour, yesterday we did a 14 mile bike ride in Glacier Park with his mother and uncle, and today we went in the fitness center again. We both feel really good at how much we’ve done; we just have to keep it up!

Me and Julie [friend] went to a self-defense class yesterday, at a new gym in town. It was a five hour long class that had us working out, punching, kneeing, jumping rope, and learning about nutrition. I’m so sore today, but I feel good about working out and it has given me motivation. This week I’m going to try to work out as much as I can; tomorrow me and Phil [boyfriend] have even planned on a bike ride.

I really need to change my lifestyle in regards to eating and exercise. I’ve started to gain weight recently and it’s freaking me out; I believe that’s going to be my motivation to actually change. Tomorrow I will buy some healthier food when I go shopping, and write a plan of action. My goal is to not only look better, but feel better too.

I decided that I would like to start exercising just five minutes a day as a first step towards ‘exercising regularly’. Five minutes out of my day shouldn’t be too hard, right?
