I’m making progress, I think.
So far I have (in rough order of chronology):
A) Got contacts.
B) Got cool shoes (Vans with funky designs, boots, bright laces in my ugly school shoes).
C) Got great glasses (bright purple, thick frames).
D) Started wearing makeup regularly.
E) Bought sexy underwear. No one sees it but me, but it makes me feel better.
F) Bought a leather jacket.
G) Bought scarves. I’ve always loved the feel and look of scarves, but I never wore them before. I was too scared. It was too flamboyant. But hey, barring certain Eastern philosophies, you only live once, right?
H) Learned to put on eyeliner. I’ve always loved eyeliner on everyone—guys, girls, whatever. I thought it would be too hard to put on. It really isn’t.
I) Got a short haircut. I love it!
Still to do:
A) Get enough money to buy new clothes for summer. Leather jackets in June in Florida—not a good idea.
B) Figure out what the hell I should wear in summer. Most of my fashion inspiration is pictures of 1970s London punks. Most 1970s London punks did not have to deal with Florida summers.
C) Wear lipstick. Another “I’ve-always-wanted-to-but.”
D) Experiment with DIY jewelry. I’m not that crafty, but it should add another bit of flamboyant flair to my outfits.
E) Buy shirts at CafePress. I used to buy shirts at Hot Topic, but CafePress has a better selection of slogans and isn’t owned by the corporate machine.
