I told them I’m an atheist. The person brought up religion in the manner of, “well so and so in a Pentecostal so she’s crazy, unlike Catholics, which I am.” I told them, “I’m an atheist so I think you’re both nuts, talking to invisible people and putting the liars in the church above you.”
We don’t talk about religion much anymore.

Generally in a work environment I avoid confronting christians even though they are violating policy by discussing their religion in the first place.
That needs to change. If a christian throws their religion in my face in the future while knowing full well I am an atheist (it’s a matter of record that I am an atheist, it’s in my files) I am not going to sit back and ignore them.
When I NEVER make exceptions and when I NEVER compromise my beliefs for work place harmony and inter-personal relations THEN and only then can I remove this from my list.

is a brilliant experience.
No man is an island and I cannot claim to have recognized reality for what it is in total isolation. However, I can’t recall any specific outside influence that nudged me towards belief in reality rather than deluded mysticism.
I’m the kid who decides Santa Clause doesn’t exist when he’s 4 years old. By the time I was 10 no amount of Sunday school, church, or Southern Baptist bible thumping was going to convince me to believe in the existence of something for which there is absolutely no evidence.
What a ridiculous and disturbing series of myths the Christian mysicism is.
Opening ones eyes for the first is indeed a brilliant experience but shortly after the initial awe one is struck by how tragic the world men have chosen for themselves is. There may have been a time when mysticism was a necessary psychological mechanism for humanity – but that time has long passed. Mysticism currently impedes human progression more than any other obstacle. The insanity of our world is justified by quoting texts written millenia ago. There is no serious attempt to correct all that is wrong with the world of man while far too many live for an afterlife that does not exist.
