.. no way this is going to happen in the winter time. Too darn cold. One of my neighbors goes on extended camping trips in Yellowstone. I’d go camping with him but he’s sort of a dick.
I have plenty of day hiking gear, but I don’t have the gear I need yet for an overnight trip. Basically all I’m missing is a good tent and a good sleeping bag. Oh, and some bear mace. And a bearproof canister for storing my food. And a rope, for hanging my food from a tree a long ways from where I’d be sleeping. Then, I might need a larger backpack, once I’ve gotten all this stuff. Hopefully I’ll have it all sorted out this winter and I’ll be ready to go when the weather is nice.
I tend to throw roadblocks in my own way, to rationalize not doing anything. I’m a bit of a self-defeatist. I think I’ll just start ordering the stuff I need. If I need a new backpack then I’ll buy one if I discover all my gear doesn’t fit into my current pack.
