I mean, of course I have been diving a great deal without the gear and could dive over 35 metres (or 100 feet) just by holding my breath.
Today was finally one part of my long-lived dream coming true as I held the regulator in my mouth and placed my face in water. All the sudden I was breathing under the surface. What a great way to be!
Everything was new. All the noises breathing out made, the beautiful taste of dry air entering my lungs, while everything around was perfectly still.
Our first class of SCUBA diving (a course of PADI) was done in a swimming hall. We had a nice, controlled environment to learn the safety cautions, like what to do if you are diving with someone and you run out of air and such.
I can’t wait to get into the wild. At the moment sea is frozen in here and thus also way too cold to dive in without proper equipment, but in two or three months we will dive into the Baltic Sea.
