Obstacles

This has to be the most difficult thing on my list. Its depending on if and when I can find a decent job. I’ve been unemployed and looking for nearly two years. A lot can happen within a year, I hope this year is good to me and things can start moving forward.

As far as the clutter, its steadily getting under control. This year I will go through my things and donate clothes and shoes that don’t fit me anymore.

I did get rid of a different kind of clutter last year. I decided to stop all toxic relationships. They hit my confidence really hard and I decided that enough was enough. I wasn’t being fair to myself by allowing these people to hold me back. With all of this out of the way, I really hope it will be easier for me to focus on this goal.

Update: June 2010

I opened my half.com account shortly after my last entry. Its going well so far. I sold 3 things! I have also been doing a lot of research on how to manage clutter by borrowing some books out of the library on the subject. My possessions have been holding me back. Having a lot of stuff makes it hard to manage and impossible if I want to move. I’m finally at a point in my life where I can let go of a lot of things.

I’ve been cleaning, organizing and re-organizing. For everything I remove, it makes the few objects I keep very special. I went through hundreds of pictures the other day. I got rid of the crappy ones, like out-of-focus and over exposed photos. And most importantly, I got rid of photos of people that I don’t care for very much. There is no use in holding on to memories of toxic relationships. Now I am left with an edited version of my collection! I can keep smiling photo after photo when I see the people that I love, like my grandma :)

Also, I have been very good about shopping. I only shop for things I need. In fact, I recently went on vacation to London and normally I would take home a bag of souvenirs, but this time I didn’t. Instead I took photos. The only things I brought home were a bar of fruity soap and a few boxes of English tea.

p.s. go watch Toy Story 3!

Half!

I think I’m going to open a half.com account and sell some of my books, games, and dvds. This will help lessen some of the volume that I’ve accumulated over the years. Its time to start letting go of things. Hopefully my things will be loved in their second life as much as they were in their first life :)

Untitled

I’m sorting out my things and going to sell most of what I own. I don’t want bring too much junk to a new place. I want to start living minimally.

I have some money saved, but its not enough. I don’t anticipate this to be an immediate thing, but I am hoping to be able to move out within 1-2 years.
