I have successfully made changes in my eating that have resulted in my eating less and eating fewer calories while eating less. I now reach for nonfat yogurt (Dannon Light & Fit Strawberry is my favorite) over anything chocolate (most of the time). It only has 90 calores for a cup (and a cup of yogurt is a lot in my opinion). I eat more fruits and vegetables and we are grilling more (my husband got a grill) and use less oil in cooking. We’ve changed to egg beaters over whole eggs, and they are better than eggs to me. I have really enjoyed my changes. We eat out occasionally, but we’ve enjoyed cooking at home, so we’ve cut back those extreme eating out calories.
My FitDay calendar shows me that I am eating less calories, fat grams and carbs each day on an average. It’s not a huge difference each week, but it is going down.
The way I am being accountable to myself is by keeping up with everything I eat. I have always hated this, but I found FitDay (www.fitday.com). FitDay makes documenting my foods easy. If I eat it regularly and it’s not already in the program, it only takes me a minute to enter it as a custom food. I have drastically changed the way I look at food by using the FitDay program.
I am also working on watching my glycemic index. I am still learning about this, so I don’t have much to say on the topic except I am trying to monitor my carbs the best I can.
