I hate bicycles 2 years ago

So, I don’t think I got on the bike again after that first post. I joined the YMCA, and for a little while I was doing decently with getting in a few times a week and doing an alternating routine of weights and cardio activities. That’s petered out recently too, BUT I have been involved in roller derby for five months now, and nothing quites tones a body like roller skating, and particularly getting knocked the ground, jumping back up again, and sprinting with five pounds weights on each foot. :-)



Killing two birds with one stone. 3 years ago

In an effort to do my part towards environmentalism, I decided to try using the local transit system for my errands yesterday. I dug my bike out of the basement, filled its tires, popped on my helmet, and headed for the bus stop. From my house to the bus is less than a mile, and all downhill, so that didn’t count. And coming home there is a bus stop 1/2 mile in the other direction, meaning a downhill ride again. Other riding that I did though, on ground that meandered up and down, totalled over 4 miles, of which 1 1/2 miles was with a heavy backpack of groceries; easily 15-20 pounds, and I only weigh 92 pounds myself.

I followed the bicycling up with some leg lifts, stomach crunches, and various other leg and glutes building excercises. I need to work on my upper body too though; actually more than I need to work on my lower body.
