Play more tennis

Played yesterday and actually won the 2 sets we played: 7-5, 6-3; neither of us were playing too badly either.

8/11 – Played one set, lost in a tie-break 6-7
8/25 – Lost two sets both tie-breaks: 6-7, 6-7
9/1 – Lost two sets, 4-6, 3-6
9/8 – Won two sets, 6-1, 6-3
9/14 – Lost two sets, 6-7, 5-7 (I was up 4-0 in this one)
9/24 – Lost one set 1-6, won one set in a tie-break 7-6
9/28 – Lost one set 3-6
10/7 – Won two sets 6-3, 6-1
10/14 – Lost two sets 4-6, 4-6
10/20 – Lost one set 4-6, Won one set 7-5
11/3 – Won two sets 6-2, 6-2
11/10 – Won two sets 6-1, 6-3
11/17 – Won one set 6-3, Lost one set 4-6
11/25 – Won two sets, 6-4, 6-3
12/2 – Lost two sets, 5-7, 1-6
12/30 – Won one set in a tie-break 7-6

I still got murdered on the court yesterday, but I played a lot better, and lost two sets 5-7 2-6 rather than the usual blow out. Hopefully I’ll improve a little more each week to at least make it a little competitive and fun.

I played last Saturday, and now this Sunday. I played two sets each time. So far my set record is: 1-6 2-6 0-6 1-6

I am an embarrassment on the court, and can barely even sustain a rally for fun. I’m playing again next Saturday, I wonder if I will continue to make a fool of myself. Another couple weeks without improvement and I think I am just wasting my “opponent’s” time…

A few days ago I contacted about 5 people in my area via both tennistour.org and via the USTA website. Still waiting to hear back…

I’m really eager to play again, even if it is only on weekend mornings. I suppose I could start showing up to the neighborhood courts and just see if anyone will rally with me, or I could just practice my serve by myself.

If I don’t find someone before too long to play with semi-regularly, I think I will just sign up for a tournament this Fall. I may get annihilated on the court, but at least I will have someone to hit with…
