My prescription products ran out, and I’m having to get a little creative with the home remedies and popular Internet methods. I’m having some success with the oil cleansing method. The blemishes are not completely gone yet, but they are a lot smaller and a lot less “angry” looking. Who knew? I drink lots of water, rarely eat sweets, and try not to be too rough with my skin. I’m also sticking with my routine and resisting the temptation to buy every product out there. It’s paying off-slowly, but I can tell something is working.

I went to my family doctor a few months ago and found out that I have cystic acne. So now I’m using some prescriptions my doctor gave me (Differin, Clindamycin) and salicylic acid wash with sunscreen. So far I have noticed a huge difference in my complexion, but my hyperpigmentation remains. Still working on that, but I am hopeful it will go away.
and i don’t know if it’s something I want to continue with right now. The kit I was using was for dry skin and I have oily skin. So for the sake of clearing hyperpigmentation I have broken out more. Crazy, I know. Just seems like I can get rid of acne faster than these blotches. I have gone back to the Olay Daily Facials, though, and I am happy. They are saving me a lot of time in the mornings and at night. I ordered some niacinamide and glucosamine from Skin Actives. I’m going to mix them in some Jergens lotion with magnesium ascorbyl phosphate (a stable form of vitamin c) and see if that does anything.
I bought some Aubrey Organics sea buckthorn cleanser, toner, and moisturizer, and I’m going to continue to use some glycolic acid products from Avon (a little goes a long way with those). I still have that Prefer On scar stuff (which I think may be helping soften the acne scars-too soon to tell). Will keep you posted on how everything goes.
I’d like to clear my acne and the hyperpigmentation (spots left over from acne, sun damage). This is a goal I’ve had ever since I was 12, when I first developed acne. I am trying to retrain myself on how to care for my skin and looking for products that will not irritate it and cause more damage. Benzoyl peroxide does not agree with me. Salicylic acid does, though. I am currently using some glycolic acid creams from Avon, Ambi’s Cocoa Butter Soap (may be a mistake but it did say on the package that it evens out skin tone), and witch hazel with a few aspirin dissolved in it. Things are going slowly for me, but I am optimistic.
