I’ve put my hair in a protective style and am continuing to moisturize it so that it won’t break off. The last time I set my hair was completely without heat. I usually set my hair under a hood dryer but I was tired after I rebraided some sections and just set my hair with rollers. It looks just like I set my hair under the dryer. I am going to keep my dryer so I can use it for deep conditioning, but I am limiting my use of heat, and it helps a lot.

If I think of my hair as a garden or a plant that needs continual moisture, maybe I’ll help it to grow that way. I’ve been trying to grow my hair out long since April 1998 when I had surgery then and had to have some of my hair shaved off. I went natural in 2004 and am now wearing my hair in two-strand twists or an afro. Occasionally I will braid my hair and set the braids under the dryer with rollers. I have some MSM capsules that I decided to stop taking orally but I opened some of them last night and put some MSM in my braid spray and in some other hair products. I had a jheri curl when I was younger and my hair grew a great deal. I’m thinking it was because my hair constantly required moisture. If I keep the same practice and moisturize my hair, it should help.
