Part of the reason I haven’t kept up with the plan is that there’s too much O.T. and not enough N.T. I’m going to change that. Also, I think I’m going to give up on lock-pace timing; instead of 1 chapter per day, I’m going to allow for 1 portion per day or multiple chapters per day depending on what is speaking to me in a particular passage.

I won’t catch up this year, but I’ll start working on this once school is over and I will finish reading through the Bible at the time I had originally planned. I happy to have a plan—it feels better than leaving it all to chance.
I never get to it in the morning. If I were willing to pack my lunch the night before, I might have some time in the mornings. But at night, I want some leisure. I resent working all the live-long day only to have more to do’s on my list at home. What with cooking dinner, washing dishes, school work, and a little leisure, I’m not very willing to set aside time for Bible reading too. It’s a lousy attitude I admit and doesn’t honor God or benefit me or anyone else in the end. But sometimes I get so sick of all the demands that life makes. I want to run away. If I would just chip away at this a little at a time, I could still make my goal before the year ends, but with school, in all honesty I probably won’t push myself. So, I’ll probably have to revise my goal for the coming year and I may as well quit burdening myself with guilt I’m not going to respond to anyway.
But I don’t plan to try catching up until I’m out of the class I’m currently taking.
As posted elsewhere, the class I’m currently taking is kicking my fanny, so I’ve got about 10-15 chapters to get caught up on.
I’ve got a few chapters to catch up on with the starting of my class. Plan to do some extra reading tonight.
Most of the Bible plans I’ve seen have people reading 3-5 chapters a day. I’ve done that a couple of times but always feel like I’m missing good stuff when I read that way—it’s just too hurried. But if I don’t have a plan at all, I also miss stuff I need; I believe ALL scripture is inspired. That’s why I devised a plan based on some found on the Internet (will try to cite references later). My plan lets me read one chapter each day 5 times each week. It takes a long time to finish but allows me to catch up if I get off schedule. Also, I alternate readings from different parts of the Bible so that I get a mix of Old and New Testaments, history and poetic writings, etc. It suits me. I’m behind in my reading for 2006 and need to catch up a bit.
