Sometimes I’m so impressed by and proud of people that it brings me to tears. I have no doubt that we are created in the image of God when I see examples of amazing creativity, generosity, and thoughtfulness. Whether I am looking at interesting photos uploaded to Flickr, hearing a parent impart knowledge to and entertain a child, or witnessing a string of cars yielding to a funeral procession, the examples are everywhere. It’s touching and awes me. It makes me grateful to be alive and blessed to know God, the epitome of all those good things which humans dimly reflect.

The baby has a spotted breast (white feathers peeking through) and can fly a little. This morning I saw it on the ground outside my kitchen window having breakfast—its parent hopped up to it to offer the baby a tasty bug. The parent’s care and generosity was sweet to see.
This evening, the weather was growing gusty (about to rain). The baby bird sought protection and rest outside on my kitchen window sill. It sat there looking in for a considerable time, showing no sign of fear at first. After recouping some energy, and as the weather grew worse, the baby began to get restless and starting calling repeatedly for its parent. The parent joined the baby on the window sill for just a moment but flew to the ground when I accidentally startled it. It called to the baby to encourage the young one to flutter to ground level. After that I lost sight of them.
All in all, a sweet example of parenting and a delightful spring observation.
I’ve been a 43 Things member for nearly a year. In that time I’ve made progress toward some of my long-term goals and have also done the following:
Dec. 2006 – Was in a parade
Jan. 2007 – Updated my computer*
Feb. 2007 – Read The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
Mar. 2007 – Saw Little Miss Sunshine
Apr. 2007 – Tried yoga*
May 2007 – Hosted tea for Mom and me*
The ones with an asterisk were the ones I actually put on my list and accomplished; the others were “accidental” achievements.
Got an email in Spanish from the YouTube site today. What a blast trying to remember all the way back to high school days and come up with appropriate verb forms to answer the person! With a little help from a dictionary and from babblefish, we managed a creditable conversation. Since I’ve had four years instruction, it’s nice to think I at least have the Spanish vocabulary of a two-year old. :)
And haven’t felt the need. Too busy with school work and adding to my wiki. Maybe it’s a winter thing too. I may give up on this goal because it isn’t seeming like much of a concern anymore.
Searching other people’s posts about writing, I decided to try out livejournal.com. Two entries to date.
Maybe age brings this on, but my life seems to get away from me with the doing of such menial stuff. I feel the need to write down thoughts, feelings, impressions as if by doing so I could slow things down and somehow grab hold before the time is gone. So, we’re talking personal writing (journal/blog type) rather than writing for an audience. I think I prefer typing to pen or pencil, but I don’t know if I want to try to keep up with a blog or pursue some other venue. I guess I’m still formulating this goal.
