Here is a list on Listsofbests.com of Robert Louis Stevenson’s works in chronological order. I put it together, and I might need to re-order some of it from time to time. But I think it’s a good place to start.
The first RLS book I read as an adult is Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. When I read it in 8th grade, I didn’t think much about it. Reading it now, however . . . well, let’s just say I can see why he threw the original manuscript into the fire.
I just finished Treasure Island. I didn’t think it was that great, but it was better than a lot of stuff out there. I’m going to keep on trekking and see where it takes me. I think New Arabian Nights, his first collection of short stories, will be my next stop.
