if nothing else, I think I at least read a little bit of a book every day.
if nothing else, I think I at least read a little bit of a book every day.
If only I could apply myself to every goal as diligently as I applied myself to rendering my own lard! In the four weeks since last report I’ve managed to finish the following goals:
-Render my own lard
-Get checked out by a dermatologist
-Quit Playing Geometric Computer Games
-Know what I want (made a comprehensive list)
I also added to the list and then finished:
-Update my retro blog
Also added to the list:
-Finish the work projects that are making me anxious (which, honestly, should be taking precendence over all other goals for the time being, but isn’t)
-Stay at La Casa Que Canta (this is a long-term goal)
-Write a book and get it published (another long-term goal)
Meanwhile, “drink Tequila in Tequila” is doing battle with “get rid of my debt” for which will actually get done, since only one or the other can get done in the immediate future.
Other progress made:
-bought new steamer for tamales
-only have one Mario Batali restaurant left to go to
-Have been brainstorming regularly to come up with money-making ideas
-have been reading multiple books (but not finishing any of them)
-Have been doing my spanish lessons and bought some flash cards.
-have been spending a fairly satisfying amount of time with friends…but still don’t think I’ve gotten to my ideal yet.
-My credit score is up to 757, which means I’m only 3 points away from top teir.
-Made an appointment to see a dermatologist next month.
-Made plans to have lunch at Otto with Ilise tomorrow (this is “spending time with friends” and checking off another Mario Batali restaurant.)
-Contacted a local-ish pig farm and will be able to get my fat for lard next Saturday.
I’ve been looking for the fat to make lard, but failing thus far…I guess the looking is progress, but I can’t make the lard until I find the fat! And I don’t want to make the tamales until I have the lard!
I’ve been doing a lot of work this week toward “organizing my office” and “streamlining everything in my life.” Just getting work projects I’ve gotten myself bogged down in done will help immensely. I managed to mostly declutter my desk, and I’ve been reading the book Getting things Done, which has been helpful. I think I must be getting closer to “know what I want” since I’ve been more content and satisfied this month that I have been in awhile.
More concrete things:
I made a reservation for dinner at Esca on Thursday, so that’ll be another Mario Batali restaurant off the list.
My cilantro seeds were planted earlier in the week, so I’m waiting for them to sprout.
I went out with friends on Monday and Wednesday.
Okay, I guess I’ve started slacking… I’ve read tiny bits, cleaned my office a little and not played any geometric computer games, but that’s a pretty skimpy amount of work toward my goals.
-1 goal accomplished! I finished reorganizing my filing system. Woohoo!
-I started getting my herb seeds ready for planting, so “grow my own cilantro” attempt will be underway shortly.
-did a little bit of reading.
-bought a stand mixer…that will help with the tamales.
-Read some more. Finished a book (a cookbook, but I’m still counting it.)
-made an ingredient list for making tamales
-worked more on my filing system…almost done
-made plans to go out with friends tonight.
Last night I finished reading a book and started another.
Today I got half done with reorganizing my filing system.
Also, studied spanish for an hour.
I’m pretty happy with everything I did toward my goals yesterday.
-I read 100 pages which contributes to “Read all the books I own”
-I loosely planned and budgeted a trip to Guadalajara which contributes to “travel more extensively in mexico” and “drink tequila in tequila. (although it actually is counterproductive to the goal “get rid of my debt.)
-I did one spanish lesson for “learn to speak spanish fluently.”
-I went through a list of Scottish fold breeders and bookmarked the ones I was interested in and sent an email to one that looks promising for “get a scottish fold kitten.”
-I bought this book, which will hopefully give me some good tips and ideas for “decorate my terrace.”
-Today I turned down an illustration job, which contributes to “Never agree to do things that I know will upset me” and “quit drawing.”
-I played no geometric computer games!
