go out on "date nights" with my spouse on a regular basis

She’s a reasonable price, for once! And my son likes her (he’s such a flirt). I also am trying to set up a babysitting coop with a family from school so we can have free babysitting.

This one’s closer to our house and has a car, so we’ll see how it goes…

The ironic thing is I got confused and thought last night was this concert I really didn’t want to miss for professional reasons, and so I called the babysitters I’d gotten from Bananas and the first one was available. The only drawback was she’s far away and my husband had to take her home. She was quite nice and gave references. When she got here I checked online about the concert tix and realized it was NEXT week. So instead we went to see Brokeback Mountain and then had a sundae. It was a nice night!

Last week I called Bananas and got names of babysitters. I’m focused on my gigs right now but the idea is to go out dancing this weekend. We’ll see if it happens. We’ve got to get out now, before the new baby comes!

Last night my husband came to my gig and brought our son! That was very nice. He doesn’t like to see me perform, and can be quite harsh with criticism at times, though he knows he should be gentle. But he was genuinely impressed, said I really seemed much more in control as a bandleader and also that I was so comfortable and natural on stage. So his showing up for that was a nice detail that helps me feel closer to him.

The other thing is that I finally called our friends who teach the salsa rueda dancing class we took for a year until they lost their space. It took a while but I got an email back and it looks like a new class is forming, perhaps this week! I hope we can get to it ASAP.

I really want to take dance lessons again with my husband. We’ve done it on and off for years. Our last class ended and we haven’t found a replacement. I think we have a babysitter now—but the last time my husband arranged for a Friday night out I was too tired and we had to call it off (I have a worthy excuse, as I’m 3 months pregnant and at that time was quite fatigued and nauseous).
