3:43:28

yesterday i ran my (first and) personal best for a marathon. 3:43:28 at the royal victoria marathon. even though it rained during the race, it was beautiful and not so hilly. i can see why this is reportedly one of the top destination marathons in north america.

Oct 8th

I actually signed up for a marathon now. Oct 8th—the Royal Victoria Marathon in Victoria, BC. Not too nervous at this point given that after a 21 mile run, I felt pretty good. Just a matter of tapering right now…

i think i'm ready...

thanks for all the encouragement folks—I think i’m about ready for the seafair half marathon. thanks in part to the gmap-pedometer, i’ve been monitoring my progress the past few weeks. typically i do anywhere from 3 to 5.25 miles in the morning, with a 6 and a 10 mile run on the weekends. my last 10 miles was completed in about 1:25. now all i gotta do is sign up lol

still working my way up there...

just ran the beat the bridge race (8 k) the other day with little training and i did pretty well—averaged an 8 min mile.

now, while i know i can’t run a marathon yet, can i get ready in time for a half-marathon in about 1 month’s time? might be tough…but i think it’s doable. any thoughts?

getting more difficult...

not the running part, but the weather and timing part. while seattle is beautiful it does rain. we’re getting into the rainy season now. also, it’s pretty darn dark at 5:30 in the morning when i used to run. i basically now run when i can—not nearly as often as a few weeks ago.

i’m going to have to get over running on treadmills if i’m to stay in shape for this.

oh, and the seattle marathon is on nov 27th. the half marathon costs 60 bucks if i register by the 15th. 70 if i do it by nov 17th. i’m going to do a long run this wknd and will see if i can swing this.

4.37% of the way there...

I’ve been running a lot more lately and can consistently run about 6 miles in under 50 minutes. I’m not at a marathon stage yet, but I’ve been thinking about running a half-marathon. Someone told me that it wouldn’t take too long for me to train to run a half-marathon at this point. I think I need to look at the upcoming half marathons and see if I can get my butt into gear.

not at a marathon stage just yet...

but i did start running again. granted, it’s on a treadmill, but hey, we all have to start somewhere. one of my friends is training for one right now, and that’s been helping me stay motivated. maybe i’ll start of small and go with a half marathon.
