Adopting a later schedule seems to be making a big difference 1 month ago

on this goal. By setting my alarm for 7:30 a.m. and allowing myself to wait to get up for the second snooze seems to be working out well. Some mornings I even get up after one snooze. As long as things keep going well this week, I will mark this one done at the end of the week.

Got up after one snooze this morning 1 month ago

Hope to keep it up.

Seems to be going a little better 1 month ago

now that I am not trying to get up so early. The second snooze now occurs at 7:50 a.m. I was able to get up at the second snooze this morning and get to work on time without rushing.

Success this morning 2 months ago

Got up at the second snooze this morning. Was able to get out of the house a few minutes earlier than usual.

My goal doesn't mention anything about "morning" 2 months ago

so I guess today counts. I planned to work later hours today so I set my alarm for 1:00 p.m. Yes, I did sleep until 1:00 p.m. and it felt GOOD!!! And yes, it did take an alarm to wake me up. And yes, I did hit the snooze button. I did get up two snoozes after my alarm went off, so regardless of the time, I did this today. Hey, I’ll take whatever credit I can get on this goal.

It was a rather freakish thing... 2 months ago

I actually got up early this morning. I had been awake since about 2 a.m. for no apparent reason and decided to chill by listening to music with headsets on. As a result, I ended up not hearing my alarm go off at 7:00 a.m. By 7:02 I had two cats on my bed and practically in my face looking at me as if to ask, “Are you going to get that???”.

Although still tired, I ended up getting up a few minutes later and getting ready for work. I think I was just too tired to realize what I was doing, but I arrived at work early with breakfast and a cup of coffee in hand.

Need to work more on this goal!!!

Still flailing away at this one 3 months ago

and the snooze button. I just have to get this one right. Everything else depends upon it.

Officially modified my goal 5 months ago

to reflect the “two snooze” approach. I’m finding that it’s working much better setting my alarm for 30 minutes before I actually want to get up, with my snooze button set for 15 minute intervals. I’m using my cell phone alarm to do this. Most alarm clock snooze buttons I think are preprogrammed for 9-minute intervals and can’t be changed, so my cell phone alarm clock works better for me.

Of course, I also employ my “two cat backup” snooze feature. Unfortunately, I have no control over their snooze intervals but they help wake me up with their purry, furry presence.

I’m just not the hop-out-of-bed-when-the-alarm-goes-off kind of person and I may never be so I’m just not going to fight it anymore.

Modified Approach 5 months ago

I think I will have a better chance of getting up at the time I plan in the morning if I acknowledge the fact that I am not a morning person and that I do not wake up quickly or easily in the morning. I am just not ready to get up when the alarm first wakes me.

Instead I will begin setting my alarm for thirty minutes before I actually want to get up, with the snooze set for fifteen minute intervals. That way I won’t have to fight to wake up and get up when the alarm first goes off. Instead, I can take my time waking up and plan to get up the third time the alarm goes off. That will still get me up at the time I plan to get up.

It’s worth a try.

What can I do? 6 months ago

What can I do to convince myself that the extra moments in bed, relaxing with my eyes closed, would be much better spent getting up and getting more things done before I go to work?
I can rationalize this quite well during the day when I am already up and about, but during those foggy moments after I have hit the snooze button, the reasons for getting up early just don’t compare to sleeping a little longer. I don’t dare NOT hit the snooze button. I could end up waking hours later and very late! So I end up setting my alarm for a decent hour and hitting the snooze until I have just enough time to get ready. That’s not how I want to start my mornings.

I’ll keep working on it.
