finish my degree

It has been quite a long time since I stopped by 43 things. I started on here many years ago and this was one of the first items I listed on 43 things. It feels good to mark it complete.

I went back to school (per my posts) the summer of 2005 and on December 12, 2009 I graduated with honors; receiving two separate degrees each with its own minor as well. However, before the semester was over my doctors found a tumor in my neck and I needed surgery to determine if I had thyroid cancer. They let me postpone the surgery after graduation…on December 15th I had the surgery and I am happy to say that it was not cancer.

Last month I was accepted to graduate school and I will be off to NY to work on my masters.

For those of you who are struggling in school, or struggling with the decision of going back I want you to know that you can do it. I believe in you. I know YOU can do it. Sometimes the days can be unbearable and sometimes they can be one of the most amazing days you’ll remember.

Congrats to all of those who have finished, and good luck to those going back.

It’s been a year since I posted something on 43 things; more importantly, it’s been a year since I posted something on this task.

I started back taking night classes to finish my degree in 2005, 3 years later I’m tired and I really really want to be done. I have 8 months left! I am now going after two degrees with two minors (one for each). My classes are now quite intense, but I love school.

I’m on track to graduate with honors, I just need to make sure I don’t lose my focus. This semester of all semesters will be the most difficult. I am going to school full-time at night, while I work full-time.

Hopefully my next update won’t be “I’m going to drop out!” haha!

After a delayed semester (Fall 2006) I was able to get things fixed with the school’s paperwork -honestly not my issue, all them. I was back in school for this past semester (Winter 2007) and I just got my grades last week… 4.0(A+) and 3.3 (B+).

I’m happy with the 3.3, but I would rather have kept the 4.0 I had in the class walking into the final. Oh well, such is life.

I have just one class this semester (accelerated pace), two next semester and four in the Fall. From the first week in May through Dec 15th I’ll be going to school with only a one week break. From July 1st through Dec 15th I’ll be in school 4 nights a week until 10pm…hopefully I can pull through.

I’ve been on delay for a semester…had to get some paperwork fixed so I could get into the classes I need next semester. So far so good -no issues yet from the school.

I just need to register in a few weeks…I’m looking forward to finishing up, I’m getting antsy!

One more class finished weeks ago, looked up my grade today… A-

I already started my summer course, first test is on Thursday…I’m taking this course over so I want an A.

So far since I started back last year in the Spring my average is an A- and I brought my GPA up .87 points. I missed Dean’s list by .1 GRR!! I’m still trying to get over the hump and erase some bad decisions, but it’s a struggle.

2 more classes finished as of last week. Grades were posted yesterday and I got an A- and an A. Woohoo!

Just started a course this summer semester this week and and a test last night…100%

Unfortunately I missed a few classes on my list so I had to bump up to 18 vs 12 I mentioned before. No biggie! :)

2 more classes out of the way and grades were posted. B- and A. Damn about the B-...but that’s pretty good. :)

My average since I have gone back (after a 4 year break) is just below A-...almost there! Just 12 more classes to go :)

...2 more classes finished, final grades are not yet posted, but I had a 90% or better in both of my classes.

Just about 15 more to go and it’s all over for this one! :)

3.5 for my first class I have taken in 4 years…I couldn’t be happier right now. :)

After a four year break I am back in school….first semester [Spring] is more then halfway over. So far I have a 3.2 in the class; I just want to seal the deal and get a 3.4 or a 3.6…patience.
