In July, I found myself in New York and had one day without meetings. So, I found a local masseuse (probably one of the best that I’ve ever had) and got a massage. Walking back to the hotel, I stopped and had a wonderful dinner at a little Italian restaurant, bought a great bottle of wine, and picked up some flowers for my room. Made myself feel special!
In August, I was in Colorado…and again headed for a local massage. (Are we starting to see a pattern here?!!) Anyway, I checked out a local bookstore as well and just read and journaled. Got some great material for articles!
In September, I was in Florida…and shared my “date” with my husband. We spent an incredibly laid back and lazy day at Sea World (which I love) and then went to a dinner theatre in the evening. I felt very pampered and relaxed by the end of the day.
Some ideas for future dates…
1) We have a new art museum opening in town that I’d like to check out all by myself
2) I’d like to get out to Lake Michigan one more time before the weather turns cold…by myself!
3) I’d like to go for a long bike-ride by myself…on a bike trail near our home.
We’ll see…I’m really benefiting from these monthly “dates” with myself! Helps clear the mind and relax the body all at the same time.

Felt good to just sit on the beach and bury my feet in the sand when I had so much to do at the office…I need to take more time off just to enjoy life!

Went and got a massage, then stopped at a tanning salon, and then spent the rest of the afternoon in a Borders Bookstore. It wasn’t exactly what I would have planned, but looking back it was a nice “pampering” kind of day.

I will have to reschedule this for the end of March…maybe Thursday, March 29…after my doctor appointment.

I am going to set aside Tuesday, February 27, as my “date day” for February. I may go to a museum, try a new place for lunch, get a massage, see a matinee all by myself, browse in a bookstore, or anything else that feels good. Things I won’t do: housework, get online, check email, errands, etc. Of course, this is all contingent on me finishing my new book by February 25! If I don’t have it done (which of course I will), then no “date day” until the end of March.
