I remember being 16 years old and thinking that I totally wanted to get inked. Of course, one couldn’t talk about it without hearing, “oh, you’re not going to like it in 10 years” or some similar pessimistic remark.
So I thought, “Ok, I’ll wait 10 years. If there is still ink that I want then, I’ll get it done.”
It’s now a little over 10 years later, and I’m glad I waited. A lot of what I wanted at 16, I would have hated to have today. Still, there are quite a few tattoos that I still want. Over the next 6 months or so, I plan to get some work done. Currently, I’m living 850 miles from home (and a friend who does tattoos). He’s a really good artist and offered to do my first tattoo free.
I’ll be home for a week in October, and I’m hoping I can get the work done then. Otherwise, I’ll have to wait until December. Either way, I’ve waited 10 years, a few months isn’t going to make a difference.
