See, it’s not as though I was being completely lazy; I’ve spent much of the past 6-10 months so focusing more on kickboxing, some ab work, and weight training…and also overloading on credits at school (I try to fool myself into thinking I’m smart sometimes).
But I’ve been paying more attention to my mat these days. I spend an hour or so on it every day, and I’ve begun to master some poses I previously couldn’t, such as Prasarita Padottanasana (Wide-Legged Forward Bend), which gets me into a great meditative state. I love seeing that progress. Next, I want to master the first Pigeon pose, Eka Pada Rajakapotasana (One-Legged King Pigeon Pose), but I’ve got a ways to go before I can do it without a strap.
My goal is to only skip one or two days a week if I have to. I’m enjoying it more now that I’ve lost some weight and gained some strength and am able to do more with my body. I have to stay with this and not fall out of it like I tend to. It makes my body happy and it really calms me down (I’ve been dealing with a lot of betraying ex-related stress lately and this either distracts or relaxes me).
I think once I achieve what I want in terms of skill and regularity, my biggest problem will be keeping a regular yoga schedule when I start school with 20 credits again. I’ll try, though. This feels too good, and I get too stressed out during the school year.
