I have not formally joined a yoga class. I have been practicing it with Aaty. I realized I have probably done several sessions (40-80 minutes each) now that I look forward to them. I should find a way to make this part of my routine. I can see Aaty smiling..

Completed my first yoga session by myself with Linda Arkin’s dvd Yoga for Flexibility. A great recommendation from Aaty and loaned from her huge library collection.
I have been playing catch up during most of my previous sessions with Aaty & Venkat.
Linda’s demonstration of varying degrees of flexibility at each pose was a big help and the pace is meant for beginners. My flexibility in legs (splits), hips (forward bends) is bad and this should help them – as Linda says “1/8 of an inch is still an improvement”.

Had 2 sessions of Yoga – one with Rodney Yee and another with Venkat.
I liked the Rodney Yee session. It provided enough time for me to correct the form, both from the video and the supplement instructions from AY as she spotted my mistakes.
My legs needs to get strengthened, needs to get a lot more flexibility in it and it was evident.
I didn’t think I had the energy for another yoga session in teh evening, but managed to get through it. Venkat suggested 24 Surya Namaskar – he had a modified basic version for me allowing me to rest on my knees. I had to stop at 15.
Getting to like Yoga (its working AY). I need to do some Time management.
Not a bad way to start the year.

Thanks Elderbear for inviting me to take up this goal.
I joined the Yoga session at the gym today on a trial basis. I wanted to subscribe once I figure out if I can manage both the gym and yoga on the same day. If I can’t, I am going to try pick up some dvds and try them at home.
Venkat, the instructor took one look at me and announced we are doing something relaxing today. Managed to keep up with the class for the most part. Venkat thinks I show some promise!
