this goal overlaps with other things. actually a lot of my goals are like that..but basically reinventing myself means a complete 180 CHANGE, to embrace and incorporate everything i find inspiring, beautiful, challenging,into who i am. This means getting healthy and fit, being conscious, doing random funny things, being extremely free-spirited, having focus, learning constantly, always smiliing, not getting used to a routine as far as creating an interesting life, and placing myself in situations that give me a new perspective. Today in my ethnographies class we talked about native anthropologists, who are anthropologists who study their home countries or are second generation. One of the things we learned was that anthropologists study “exotic” people because in order to identify the parts of your culture that are unique, u must understand someone else’s. i completely agree. Interaction with others is the one of the ways i feel that we grow, bcuz we gain new perspectives. As i’ve heard b4 we don’t develop in a vacuum!!

Well I got 2 of my wisdom teeth taken out yesterday, so all I ate was some porridge my grandma made me and I drank water and Ensure. Probably going to eat the same thing today except with some soup.
although my long term goal is to lose 20 pounds, i would just like to start by easing into consistency and being conscious of what i eat and how much and what exercises i do each day, so i can see what i need to work on. I’ll do it through 43 things because it’s easier and it’ll hold me accountable if i have to come here everyday and write what i’ve eaten. Any suggestions about eating healthier or workouts are appreciated. :)
since i was in middle school i always wanted to lose weight. I was really skinny in elementary school, and then i gained a lot of weight in middle school that stuck all the way through college. I’m overweight but not fat, and my goal in the past was always to lose weight. I’d always have spurts of motivation, like i’d see Biggest Loser and say to myself if they can lose as much weight as they are then I can lose a measly 20 pounds. One thing I’ve realized is that there is a difference between what we are humanly capable of doing and what we personally can/will do. In theory I can lose as much weight as i want to but in practice i wasn’t. I think that along with losing weight my primary goal is to get healthy. I don’t eat particularly bad, as in lots of junk food, but i could be more conscious of what i’m eating and realizing if i eat when i’m hungry or when i’m bored. I never really drank soda, but i always drank fruit juice. I cut that out and only drink water. I started going to my school’s gym regularly, and am trying to make better choices. I gave myself 4 months to lose weight, starting February 27th so my weight loss experiment will be over June 27th. One thing i realized was how sluggish i could be. I would be panting when i walked up stairs, and I NEVER exercised. So I have goals that include being able to run without getting out of breath, losing the 20 lbs, drinking enough water, toning my body, and being able to increase my endurance.
got into shopping at thrift stores this year, and really enjoy it. Today i got 4 things for $1 each!! My style now reflects me- eclectic.
One of the ways I plan on doing this is having a sense of style. I think the way that one dresses is an extension of their personality, but i must admit that i don’t put a lot of effort into my appearance. What i have decided to do in regards to creating my style, is purchasing a few key outfits, shoes, and accessories that express my personal style. I really like bold prints,and vibrant colors, but i also like nude colors and mod clothing. My eventual fashion goal is to dress well regularly and simplify my wardrobe. I haven’t paid much attention to this goal, because i consider a lot of my goals and 43 Things to be part of my reinvention. I guess reinventing myself really means being the person i am unapologetically by following whatever my heart and mind desire.
