One, I got on sale, was one of these cotton shirts that cannot be ironed after 10 minutes of trying. I had good luck with the polo shirts, though.

I don’t trust my judgement at discount places and outlets. I’m blind to a good find if it’s under fluorescent lights in a pile that’s been picked over, a la Filene’s Basement or Nordstrom Rack. Think I’ll just have to go to an upscale store and observe what the customers actually wear.
Dress shirts

Back in the 80s’s, some independent clothing stores would provide free alterations for clothes you bought at list price, but today’s department stores don’t. It’s off-the-rack-as-is or pay extra. I fucking hate to remove umpteen pins, a cardboard insert, and a plastic collar on a dress shirt just to try it on and see if it fits.
