Travel to Australia

So I said Australia, but I guess my aim over the last couple years changed a bit. I just returned from New Zealand with my boyfriend and had the most amazing time. I would love to move there, but I think there’s a dog quarantine…eeeeck. I was briefly in Australia, for a layover, but that does not count. I will make it there eventually, but it’s not the top of my list currently. My boyfriend lived in Australia for a year, and he wants to eventually return for a visit…eventually…

Maybe I should change this to New Zealand. Currently I’m more intrigued with New Zealand – glaciers, beaches, pure beauty! My boyfriend and I are considering trying to work in NZ at an alternative highschool (they’ve repeatedly let him know that they want him). He’d probably teach creative writing courses, or journalism, or surfing. I would love to teach a design class (which I design myself), or yoga, or art, or jewelry, or furniture…or hell, even math. The only problems here would be leaving our fabulous jobs that we’re starting to get noticed in (him especially)...and leaving our pets (my dear Sherpa, his loving Danger and independent Alu).

It looks like I have a tentative plan to travel to Australia in June or July. It would only be a short two-week trip (hopefully my job won’t mind me taking an extra week, unpaid of course, off). It’s tough trying to make headway in my career when I have such itchy feet. One of my friends decided he wanted to go and invited me and another Danish guy along. So far I haven’t even looked in to anything for it…but I can’t wait to, I love doing the research (such a dork at heart!).
