I took a month’s worth of swing dancing lessons last month. It was a blast! I just wish there were more single women there. The room was full of couples, which was a little discouraging. But I made the best of it and had fun nonetheless.

I haven’t exactly tried two new activities a month, but I’ve done a hell of a lot in 2009. I started my own art group, which now has 310 members, and programmed 30 events since June ‘09. I’ve gone to Eyedrum for their 1st Thursday improv music night, and got up on stage for that. Also tried an Atlanta Bloggers meeting, met some folks through this group & was invited to 2 or 3 other get togethers from this one group alone. So its been a very fruitful year. In 2010, I want to take up swing dancing lessons again. And maybe an art class here or there. I’ve been talking about signing up for a screenprinting class for quite some time, but haven’t gotten around to it just yet.
I’m finding that by not varying my routine, I’m not allowing myself the opportunity to meet new friends from different social circles. Over the last year, I’ve mostly stuck with the groups I’m familiar with…Meetup painting, Meetup jazz/blues, and the usual art classes (ie: Chastain). So I’d like to change up my routine a little more often. A few ideas:
1. Volunteer with WonderRoot
2. Pursue gardening w/the Oakhurst Community Garden
3. Get a dog and join a dog owner’s group
4. Rediscovered Atlanta Neighborhoods Alliance
5. Take Back Your Time – Atlanta
6. People for the American Way, Georgia
7. Start an Improvisation group
8. Fun Hikes Atlanta
