A few years, I gave up films. I stopped going to the cinema and watching films on television because everything bored me. I believe I may have become bored with films because I am not educated enough about them to appreciate them. I haven’t seen enough films in my lifetime to have learned anything about the art.
I have set a goal to change my appreciate for film by watching and studying the films most revered by critics and audiences. To achieve that goal, I am turning to the Criterion Collection, “a continuing series of important classic and contemporary films on DVD.” I am going to watch every film in the Criterion Collection — all 461 films. Make that 444 films because I have already seen 17 films in the collection.
I’m going to list all the films I’ve seen by spine number and continue to update the list.
