well I’ve been in the job for 2 months and its been pretty hard slog, the IT department is so different from any I’m used to, everything seems unplanned and almost chaotic and they get no direction from the business. The biggest frustration is that I’m not in a position where I can change this quickly, instead I have to slowly try to pursuade the managers to change one thing at a time. I remember now that I used to like consulting because I could dictate terms and the first non consulting job I got I was a manager and had control of everything I wanted which I enjoyed as well, but its not like that here…..

I’m starting work with a new company in a new industry so its going to be a big change and a great challenge. I want to qiuckly get up to speed with what the company is doing in IT and then what the company’s business plans are so I can start influencing the decision making process and making a difference. I’m looking forward to the challenge though.
