be proactive

I checked in on a long-ignored online dating account today, took the time (on my slow ass modem) to go through the pages and actually found some people who piqued my interest. I haven’t done it for a while mainly because every time I looked the same damn guys showed up- so I said screw it – but if Im going to try and get things rolling in general what the hell might as well put a little effort in here too; and thankfully in the interim a few new faces logged in so…. We’ll see what comes of tonight’s minor attempts to connect , Ill be more direct tomorrow.

I’ve had a broad intention to get into art writing for a while- to little fruition, and lately had been thinking starting an art blog might be a good point of departure . So my first post-commitment proactive act was to contact an artist whose show I just saw to ask if she would chat with me about her work which would be the focus of my sites first “piece”. She knows people I know so its not that wide a shot, but it is a pretty random somewhat awkward request- something I normally would have put off or easily dismissed altogether without this little external nudge – so even though I’m still waiting for a response I feel pretty good about having asserted myself. I also set up the blog itself. So with luck the wheels have, in a larger as well as smaller sense, been set in motion.
