OMG! I am tired. I work work work (I love my job btw). Summer is tourist season and it has been kind to me. With this terrible recession I have also learned that CASH IS KING! This particular goal is teaching me how to maximize and protect what I have during a strange financial period.

I had to ask myself why I need $50,000 in my savings acct. I lose track of purpose. I then remembered that 50,000 is my safety number. It encompasses my emergency fund, my ability to take risks, it is my perceived security. My world can seemingly fall apart, but I will already have at least one rung on my ladder to success.
Every week I check on all of my finances. It keeps me motivated and also allows me to catch fees that show up in error. I have found 3 incidents, and by checking them every week I can catch it sooner rather than later.
I have an online savings acct that earns the most interest (which at the moment is really really low). So far I am at 15,000.
