Volunteer at a hospital

This goal will remain on my list until early 2010. I can volunteer once I turn 18 next year on July 4th but the problem is I will be too preoccupied with studying for my university entrance exams (HSC – Higher School Certificate, equivalent to SATs) around then. I’ll have to wait until those are out of the way so I have the time to fully dedicate myself to this goal.

You sound wonderful. Unfortunately, we do not have provisions for young people under 18. Please get in touch with me when you reach your majority as I’d love to have you as a volunteer at RPAH.”

Well, then.

I suppose I should just wait until I reach the required age. Can’t wait! In the meantime, I’d like to do voluntary work at a nursing home.

I’ve been wanting to do for this for who knows how long. I would love to commit my spare time to helping others. I’ve actually contacted various hospitals over the past two months, enquiring about voluntary work and none accept minors due to safety issues and regulations. I’m going to call up one last hospital soon (it’s about an hour and a half away from home so it was my absolute last option) and hope for the best. It’s looking pretty bleak though. Stupid Australia and its stringent guidelines and laws. :(
